‎‎New Delhi, Feb 27 (.) ‎Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav on Friday strongly defended former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, saying that “truth and justice” stand with him and describing the recent court ruling as a “moral death sentence” for the Bharatiya Janata Party.

‎In a post shared on his WhatsApp channel, Yadav said, “Today, truth and justice both stand with the popular former Chief Minister of Delhi, Arvind Kejriwal. No accusation can ever be so large that it can overshadow the truth.” He added that “every honest person will breathe a sigh of hope,” while alleging that BJP supporters “must be deeply ashamed.”
‎In a significant legal victory, a Delhi court on Friday discharged former Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, former Deputy CM Manish Sisodia, and 21 others in the corruption case filed by the Central Bureau of Investigation regarding the now-scrapped Delhi Excise Policy.
‎The Samajwadi Party leader accused the BJP of betraying the people of the national capital. “The BJP has betrayed the residents of Delhi,” he said.
‎In a strongly worded message, Yadav also criticised what he described as a pattern of false allegations by those aligned with the ruling establishment. “Those deceitful, so-called orthodox figures who commit the grave sin of leveling false accusations even against Shankaracharyas, sages, saints, and ascetics—one cannot imagine the extent to which they might go to defame a government, a political party, or an individual,” he said.
‎He further alleged that such actions reflect a broader culture of political defamation. “No decent person can truly fathom how far they are capable of going,” Yadav added.
‎Yadav also invoked pre-independence history in his criticism of the BJP and its ideological roots. Referring to the period before 1947, he claimed that the “associates” of the current ruling establishment had aligned themselves with colonial powers.
‎“Their work included informing against freedom fighters, helping send them to the gallows, and working against those passionate about India’s independence,” Yadav said. He alleged that such forces “survived on stipends and favors from the imperialists who enslaved the country,” and described them as “ideological descendants within the BJP, built on deceit and illusion.”
‎“Today,” he said, “they are left with no face to show.”
‎The remarks come amid heightened political tensions between opposition parties and the BJP, particularly over legal and political challenges faced by opposition leaders. Yadav’s statement signals continued efforts by opposition parties to present a united front in support of Kejriwal and to frame the controversy as politically motivated.
‎The Samajwadi Party chief further said, “For the BJP, this news is nothing short of a ‘moral death sentence.’”
