Lucknow, Mar 1 (.) Archery Association of India(AAI) President and former Jharkhand Chief Minister Arjun Munda on Sunday praised Uttar Pradesh’s archery league.
Munda noted that archery in Uttar Pradesh is growing.
Arjun Munda, arrived in Lucknow today morning on the second day of the National Women’s Archery Championship, which began on Saturday at the KD Singh Babu Stadium in Lucknow.
He said in a conversation with reporters that such National Ranking Tournaments help in discovering new talent, so that players who bring glory to the country at the international level can be promoted and developed.
Munda said that he is happy to see talented players from remote villages play in such tournaments, he added that such tournaments are popularising sports in the interior.
Uttar Pradesh Archery Association President Avnish Awasthi stated that approximately 350 female archers from across the country are competing for medals at the tournament, 44 of them hailing from players from Uttar Pradesh.
He said that such events will give new impetus to archery in the state and provide a platform for talent emerging from rural areas.
