New Delhi, March 1(.) Delhi BJP president Virendra Sachdeva on Saturday strongly rebutted remarks made by Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national convenor Arvind Kejriwal, accusing him of attempting to divert attention from what he termed as “zero development” during his tenure in Delhi.
Addressing the media, Sachdeva said Kejriwal had the opportunity to govern Delhi for 11 years and has been in power in Punjab for the past three-and-a-half years, but failed to deliver development in either state.
He alleged that instead of responding to questions about his own government’s performance, Kejriwal was attempting to question the one-year performance of the BJP government in Delhi.
Sachdeva further said that despite being rejected multiple times by voters in Gujarat and Goa, Kejriwal continues to seek accountability from BJP governments in those states.
He accused the AAP leader of indulging in political rhetoric and blaming the BJP for issues ranging from Delhi and Punjab to Gujarat, Goa and even international matters.
Highlighting the performance of Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, Sachdeva said she had set a unique example by presenting a report card before the public in all seven parliamentary constituencies within seven days.
He described the initiative as an unprecedented exercise in public accountability.
The Delhi BJP chief said the Rekha Gupta government, through the Public Works Department, Delhi Jal Board, Flood Control Department and Transport Department, has undertaken development projects worth thousands of crores.
He added that each Assembly constituency has been allocated Rs 100 crore for dedicated development works, providing elected representatives with new opportunities to accelerate local infrastructure projects.
Sachdeva alleged that Kejriwal’s 11-year tenure was marked by “zero development, corruption, scams and the ‘Sheeshmahal’ controversy.” In contrast, he claimed that the BJP government’s one year in office has focused on change and development, with new projects worth nearly Rs 1 lakh crore.
He cited the rollout of new sewage treatment plants (STPs), a new sewer master plan, initial steps toward cleaning the Yamuna, improved road infrastructure, induction of new buses, and new public outreach initiatives related to house tax and water services as key achievements of the current administration.
Sachdeva said the BJP government remains committed to transparent governance and accelerated development in the national capital.
