Islamabad/Herat, Mar 2 (.) Pakistani fighter aircraft were reportedly seen flying over the skies of Afghanistan’s Herat Province, carrying out patrols against Taliban posts on Sunday night.
Simultaneously, a Taliban official reported an attack on Pakistani positions at the Angoor Ada border crossing in the Barmal district of Paktika Province, reports Afghan International.
Ahmadullah Muttaqi, head of the Taliban government’s ministry for information and culture, posted a video on X that he said showcased Taliban fighters carrying out attacks against Pakistani positions at Angoor Ada. The footage shows Taliban fighters using heavy weapons at night against what were described as Pakistani military posts.
Residents of Herat said that drones had taken to the province’s airspace and that bursts of gunfire were heard for several minutes.
Furthermore, according to reports, Pakistani fighter jets and drones have targeted multiple locations, including Kabul, Taliban military centres, and Bagram Airfield, while Taliban fighters have crossed right past the Durand Line and carried out successful attacks against Pakistani check posts in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan.
A source near the Islam Qala crossing said at least two explosions were heard following the aircraft activity, though Taliban authorities have not commented on the identity of the aircraft or the cause of the reported gunfire in the province.
Pakistan likewise has made little comments, and with the inflow of false information from both sides, an independent verification of either side’s gains and losses is extremely hard to carry out.
