Los Angeles, Mar 2 (.) Hollywood legend Harrison Ford received the prestigious SAG‑AFTRA Life Achievement Award at the 2026 Actor Awards, delivering an emotional speech about his career and love for acting.
The award was presented by fellow actor and longtime friend Woody Harrelson, who praised Ford’s remarkable achievements and called him a “living legend” with an “indescribable energy” that shines on screen.
Visibly moved after a standing ovation and a tribute video showcasing his six‑decade career, Ford took the stage and said, “I feel incredibly grateful for this kind attention. But to be clear, I also am quite humbled. That said, it is a little weird to be receiving a lifetime achievement award at the half point of my career. It’s a little weird isn’t it? I’m still a working actor!,” as quoted by Variety.
Reflecting on his journey, Ford shared, “I struggled for about 15 years, going from an acting job, then carpentry and back to acting, until I finally got a part in a wildly successful film. None of this happened on my own,” before crediting Star Wars creator George Lucas and Indiana Jones director Steven Spielberg for their early support.
He added, “They were both incredibly persistent, who supported me at a time when I really needed it. I would not be here without them.”
Ford also spoke about the meaning of storytelling, saying the work actors do “has a unique capacity to create moments of emotional connection” and that he feels “lucky” to have found his people and continue doing work that challenges him.
With this honour, Ford becomes the 61st recipient of the Life Achievement Award, joining a distinguished group of actors celebrated for their lasting contributions to the craft.
