New Delhi, Mar 3 (.) Taapsee Pannu’s courtroom drama Assi continues to win accolades for its hard-hitting narrative, with actress Saiyami Kher joining the chorus of praise. Describing the film as deeply impactful, Kher called it “one of the most important films made in a long long time,” emphasizing the movie’s powerful storytelling and resonance.
Saiyami Kher shared her thoughts on Instagram: “I watched Assi a week ago. And it refuses to leave me. It holds up a mirror and doesn’t allow you to look away.. It asks all the questions we’ve been avoiding. Brilliant writing and performances. Unflinching storytelling. One of the most important films made in a long long time. Directed by Anubhav Sinha, Assi features Taapsee Pannu in the lead, alongside Kani Kusruti, who portrays a woman navigating the harrowing aftermath of a violent sexual assault.
The film sheds light on systemic failures, victim-blaming, and the relentless struggles survivors face while seeking justice, offering a stark and unflinching look at society’s response to trauma.
