New Delhi, Feb 11 (.) The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Wednesday alleged that governance and public safety in the national capital have deteriorated under the BJP government and questioned the handling of recent fatal incidents, including murders and deaths caused by people falling into open drains and pits.
In a statement, AAP national convenor Arvind Kejriwal said the BJP has “ruined the entire Delhi in just one year.” He accused the government of being indifferent to public safety and asked how many more lives would be lost before corrective action is taken.
The remarks come amid reports of multiple violent crimes and accidental deaths in different parts of the city. AAP Delhi unit president Saurabh Bharadwaj alleged that administrative agencies responsible for civic infrastructure have failed to ensure safety. Referring to the Lieutenant Governor Vinai Kumar Saxena and the Delhi Development Authority (DDA), he said several drains remain open and unprotected, leading to fatal accidents.
Bharadwaj also criticised what he described as a lack of accountability, stating that various civic and administrative bodies in Delhi are currently under the BJP’s control. He said open drains, uncovered pits, building collapses, and rising crime should be addressed with urgency and responsibility.
Citing recent crime reports, Bharadwaj claimed that six murders occurred within 24 hours and alleged that there has been no adequate public response from authorities. He further accused the Chief Minister of focusing on public events while serious law and order concerns persist.
There has been no immediate response from the BJP, the Lieutenant Governor’s office, or the Delhi government regarding the allegations made by AAP.
