Mumbai, Feb 2 (.) Bollywood actor Adarsh Gourav has ventured beyond the conventional boundaries of screen performance by singing a rap number for his upcoming film “Tu Ya Main”, marking his first solo playback singing experience in a feature film.
For Adarsh, performance isn’t just about speaking dialogues or acting physically, but also encompasses rhythm, voice, and music. In his upcoming film, “Tu Ya Main”, he has taken a major creative step. He has lent his voice to the rap song “Jee Liye,” marking his solo playback singing debut for a feature film.
The song has been co-composed and produced by Aditya Narayan, with lyrics by Chakori Dwivedi. As always, this musical experience isn’t just a unique experiment for Adarsh, but a natural part of his character and story.
The actor believes that music is a powerful medium for storytelling. It can bring out emotions, inner conflicts and unspoken feelings that are difficult to express in words. The decision to include songs in Tu Ya Main stems from this very thought – not just to add to the performance, but to move the story forward.
Adarsh said, “Music has always been very personal to me. I don’t consider it separate from acting; rather, it’s a part of understanding the emotions, rhythm, and character. When Tu Ya Main came to me, the character’s ability to express herself through rap felt very real and natural. It wasn’t just about becoming a singer, but about letting the character speak in her true language.”
Adarsh further elaborated, “Rap gives you the freedom to express raw thoughts, confusion, anger, vulnerability, and truth all at once. Recording this track was as emotional as shooting a scene. It requires complete presence.
“I wanted the voice to sound authentic, a little imperfect, because that’s the character. For me, music isn’t an extra element of the performance, but rather another layer of storytelling. If it helps the audience understand the character and their emotions, that’s its success. This experience was both intimidating and fulfilling, and it has opened up a new creative world for me.” . . .
