New Delhi, Dec 23 (.) The All India Football Federation’s (AIFF) Women’s Football Committee convened at the Football House to review preparations, performance, and development strategies for women’s football in the country.
The meeting was chaired by Valanka Alemao and attended by AIFF Deputy Secretary General M. Satyanarayan, Deputy Chairperson Tsering Angmo, and committee members Tababi Devi, Chitra Gangadharan, and Shabana Rabbani, according to an AIFF statement.
Committee members were briefed on the preparations of India’s senior, Under-20, and Under-17 women’s national teams ahead of their respective AFC Women’s Asian Cup campaigns. They conducted a detailed review of recent performances and discussed challenges faced by the national teams, coaching staff, and support personnel.
A key area of discussion was strengthening the development ecosystem for women’s football, with particular emphasis on supporting women coaches. The committee deliberated on dedicated development programmes and support structures, including a new initiative to spotlight women coaches through specialised social media content. The move aims to increase visibility, recognise contributions, and inspire more women to take up leadership roles within the sport.
Player safeguarding emerged as a major priority during the deliberations. The committee proposed a range of measures to ensure a safe, secure, and inclusive environment for players across all age groups, underlining the importance of athlete welfare in the long-term growth of women’s football.
The meeting also addressed financial and budgetary matters, focusing on ensuring adequate allocation of resources to sustain development pathways and maintain competitive standards at the national level.
