New Delhi, Feb 18 (.) Acclaimed American medical drama “The Pitt” is set to receive an Indian adaptation.
The series, which streams on HBO Max, has earned widespread praise for its detailed and realistic portrayal of healthcare professionals navigating the challenges of the post-pandemic world.
The show, which won five honours at the 77th Primetime Emmy Awards, was named among the American Film Institute’s Best TV Programmes of 2025, and secured the Best Television Series – Drama trophy at the 83rd Golden Globe Awards.
The Variety India report said TVF, the production house behind popular shows such as “Panchayat,” “Gullak,” “Kota Factory,” and “Aspirants”, is planning to remake the series for Indian audiences. If confirmed, this would mark TVF’s first-ever adaptation of a foreign show, as the company has so far been known for its original content slate.
“The Pitt” follows the lives of healthcare workers in a post-COVID setting, focusing on the psychological strain of handling high-pressure 15-hour shifts at the fictional Pittsburgh Trauma Medical Centre’s emergency room, commonly referred to as “The Pitt.”
The first season premiered on January 9, 2025. The show is currently in its second season, with six episodes already released, as per Variety India.
Actor Noah Wyle stars as Dr. Michael “Robby” Robinavitch, a senior attending physician who leads a team of junior doctors, interns, and experienced professionals in the emergency department. Together, they confront emotionally taxing cases while grappling with staff shortages and limited resources. The series was created by R. Scott Gemmill.
