Los Angeles, Feb 2 (.) Billie Eilish, who won ‘Song of the Year’ at the 2026 Grammys for “Wildflower,” used her acceptance speech to speak out on immigration issues in the US.
The 24-year-old singer addressed the current political climate and the impact of strict immigration policies, saying, “As grateful as I feel, I honestly don’t feel like I need to say anything except that no one is illegal on stolen land.”
Standing alongside her brother and co-writer Finneas O’Connell, Eilish emphasized the importance of hope, activism, and collective action. She added, “It’s just really hard to know what to say and what to do right now, and I just feel really hopeful in this room. I feel like we just need to keep fighting, speaking up, and protesting. Our voices really do matter, and people matter,” according to People.
She concluded with a bold statement against US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), “And ICE, that’s all I’m gonna say. Sorry!” The audience responded with a standing ovation.
Eilish was among several winners that night to speak in support of immigrants and their families.
“Wildflower,” released in May 2024 as part of her Hit Me Hard and Soft album, peaked at No. 17 on the Billboard Hot 100 and was also nominated for Record of the Year. Other nominees in the Song of the Year category included Lady Gaga, Doechii, Rosé, Bruno Mars, Bad Bunny, Kendrick Lamar, SZA, and Sabrina Carpenter.
