Los Angeles, Jan 10 (.) Netflix’s hit dystopian anthology series ‘Black Mirror’ has officially been renewed for an eighth season.
The streaming platform confirmed the news by sharing a transcript of a conversation with creator Charlie Brooker, in which he celebrated the show’s three Golden Globe nominations, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Season seven of the series, which premiered in April 2025, made an immediate impact by topping Netflix’s charts and drawing 10.6 million views in its first full week. The six-episode season featured a sequel to USS Callister, widely considered one of the most beloved episodes in the show’s history.
The latest season earned Brooker a nomination for Best Television Limited Series, Anthology Series, or Motion Picture Made for Television, while Rashida Jones and Paul Giamatti received acting nominations for their roles in the episodes Common People and Eulogy, respectively.
In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter in August 2025, Brooker revealed that he has no shortage of ideas for the series. He pointed to the rapid evolution of technology as a constant source of inspiration, noting how emerging developments—such as AI chatbots reinforcing human delusions—spark fresh, unsettling story concepts.
“There’s plenty more horrible oil in the tank,” Brooker remarked, hinting that ‘Black Mirror’ still has many dark and thought-provoking tales left to tell.
