Milan, Feb 25 (.) Bodø/Glimt stunned three-time European champions Inter Milan with a 2-1 away win to seal a 5-2 aggregate victory, while Newcastle United defeated Qarabag FK 3-2 to storm into the Round of 16 of the UEFA Champions League.
In Milan, former AC Milan forward Jens Petter Hauge played a decisive role once again, scoring to help Bodø/Glimt complete a famous aggregate triumph, as per the UEFA Champions League website.
Inter dominated much of the early proceedings but fell behind when Hauge finished from close range. Hakon Evjen extended the visitors’ lead with a fine strike, effectively putting the tie beyond reach.
The hosts responded late, with Alessandro Bastoni scoring after Manuel Akanji had struck the post, but Bodø/Glimt held firm to secure one of the most memorable victories in the club’s history.
Meanwhile, at Newcastle, the hosts completed a commanding 9-3 aggregate win in one of the highest-scoring ties in the competition.
Goals from Sandro Tonali and Joelinton inside the opening six minutes put the English side firmly in control. Qarabağ fought back in the second half, with Camilo Duran and Elvin Jafarguliyev scoring, while Sven Botman also found the net for Newcastle.
Despite the visitors’ resistance, Newcastle comfortably progressed and will face either Chelsea or Barcelona in the last 16.
