New Delhi, Feb 12 (.) Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva will be on a State visit to India from 18th to 22nd February 2026, at the invitation of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) said on Thursday.
MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said, “President Lula will participate in the 2nd AI Summit, scheduled from 19th to 20th February in New Delhi. The main day for bilateral talks between India and Brazil will be on 21st February, during which President Lula will be hosted by the President of India. Several other dignitaries, including the Vice President of India, will also call on him.”
President Lula will be accompanied by a ministerial and business delegation, and a series of events have been planned to engage with the visiting delegation, further strengthening India–Brazil economic, technological, and strategic ties.
This visit underscores the growing India–Brazil Strategic Partnership and comes at a time when both nations are seeking to deepen cooperation in areas including digital technologies, sustainable development, trade, and innovation.
Earlier, PM Modi paid a State Visit to Brazil on 8 July 2025, upon the invitation of the President of Brazil. This visit was conducted in a spirit of friendship and trust, which has been the cornerstone of the Brazil–India relationship for nearly eight decades. The relationship was elevated to a Strategic Partnership in 2006.
