Eight people were killed and 26 others injured when a bus overturned in the Turkish city of Antalya, TRT Haber TV reported on Sunday.The passenger bus was traveling from Tekirdağ to Antalya when it lost control on a slippery curve and overturned into a ravine on the morning of February 1, officials said.
Preliminary reports suggest that the bus overturned on the Antalya-Isparta highway at approximately 7:30 GMT and rolled into a ditch. There are reports of multiple fatalities and injuries.
At the time of the accident, people were trapped inside and under the bus, TRT Haber reported. Medical teams and emergency services are working at the scene.
Antalya Governor Hulusi Şahin confirmed the accident, which occurred on the Antalya-Isparta highway around 7:30 GMT, and involved a bus carrying 34 passengers.
Emergency services and medical teams quickly arrived to rescue passengers trapped inside and under the bus. The injured were taken to nearby hospitals for treatment, while authorities launched an investigation into the cause of the crash, according to Ynetnews.
