Phnom Penh, Jan 29 (.) The three-day Cambodia-Thailand Regional Border Committee (RBC) secretariat meeting over border issues wrapped up on Thursday without reaching any consensus, said a Cambodian defense spokesperson.
Held at the Poipet International Border Checkpoint between Cambodia’s Banteay Meanchey province and Thailand’s Sa Kaeo province, the meeting was held between Cambodia’s 5th Military Region and Thailand’s 1st Army Area under the observation of the ASEAN Observer Team.
“Both parties have yet to reach common ground, but both parties agreed to return to their respective headquarters to continue exchanging documents and negotiating until a consensus is reached,” Maly Socheata, a spokesperson for the Cambodian Ministry of National Defense, said in a press release.
She added that when a consensus is reached, there will be a Cambodia-Thailand RBC meeting and a formal signing ceremony between Cambodia’s 5th Military Region and Thailand’s 1st Army Area. Cambodia and Thailand agreed to an immediate ceasefire on Dec. 27, 2025, after three weeks of a new round of armed conflict that caused casualties on both sides.
