    New Delhi, Feb 24 (.): The 126th meeting of the Enforcement Task Force of the Commission for Air Quality Management was held here on Tuesday to review inspection and enforcement activities carried out across the National Capital Region between February 4 and February 18.
    The review covered key sectors contributing to air pollution, including industrial units, construction and demolition activities, road dust, diesel generator sets, and incidents related to municipal solid waste and biomass burning.
    The task force examined inspections conducted by flying squads across these sectors. It also reviewed pending enforcement actions arising from violations reported during the 125th ETF meeting and assessed proposed actions on fresh violations flagged during the current reporting period.
    A total of 318 inspections were conducted during the period. These included four in the construction and demolition sector, 306 in the industrial sector and eight related to diesel generator sets.
    Closure has been proposed for 39 units, while sealing of diesel generator sets has been recommended for 10 units. Show cause notices have been issued to 15 units and 28 cases are under examination by the concerned authorities.
    The meeting also focused on inspection of road dust mitigation measures, including mechanised road sweeping, water sprinkling, maintenance of paved shoulders and compliance with prescribed dust control norms.
    The CAQM advised implementing agencies to ensure on-ground vigilance and strict adherence to dust control measures, particularly in high traffic corridors and urban hotspots.
    As per the cumulative enforcement status as on February 23, a total of 26,328 units, projects and entities have been inspected so far. Based on these inspections, 1,686 closure directions have been issued for non-compliance. Of these, 1,290 resumption orders have been granted after verification of compliance, while 123 cases have been transferred to the respective State Pollution Control Boards and the Delhi Pollution Control Committee for final decision.
