New Delhi, Feb 17 (.) The Ministry of Education organised a special session titled ‘Ministry of Education – Pushing the Frontier of AI in India’ on Tuesday at New Delhi’s Bharat Mandapam as part of the India AI Impact Summit 2026, underscoring the government’s push to integrate artificial intelligence across the country’s education ecosystem.
The session was attended by union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan and Minister of State for Education and Skill Development (Independent Charge) Jayant Chaudhary, along with senior officials and academic leaders.
Addressing the gathering, Pradhan described the summit as a pathbreaking initiative envisioned by Prime Minister Narendra Modi to accelerate India’s AI growth story.
He said the world is increasingly looking at India as the country adopts AI at a remarkable pace, adding that the technology would play a transformative role in realising the vision of Viksit Bharat 2047 and positioning India as a global knowledge superpower.
Emphasising the role of young innovators, the minister noted that “AI in education and education in AI are deeply intertwined,” urging students and professionals to harness AI to educate and empower communities.
Chaudhary termed the deliberations at the summit insightful, highlighting discussions on structured AI integration spanning foundational learning, skilling, research, and global leadership.
Over the past decade, the ministry has laid the groundwork for AI-enabled education through digital platforms, policy reforms, and capacity-building initiatives.
Following a budget announcement last year, a Centre of Excellence in AI for Education was established at the Indian Institute of Technology(IIT) Madras.
The minister also recently chaired the Bharat Bodhan AI Conclave 2026 to advance responsible AI deployment.
The panel featured prominent leaders, including Sridhar Vembu of Zoho Corporation, Rajan Anandan of Peak XV Partners, and directors from leading IITs. Discussions centred on governance frameworks, indigenous AI innovation, and aligning policy with technology to ensure nationwide, sustainable impact.
The session aimed to shape India’s national AI-in-education roadmap while strengthening collaboration among government, academia and industry.
