Chennai, Jan 28 (.) Chennaiyin FC have announced the signing of Spanish midfielder Alberto Noguera, with the Madrid-born playmaker joining the Marina Machans on a contract until the end of the season. He becomes the club’s second new addition ahead of the upcoming campaign.
Noguera brings vast experience to Chennaiyin FC, having made close to 400 appearances during a well-travelled career spanning Spain, England, Azerbaijan, and India. A proven performer in Indian football, he has previously won major domestic honours including the Indian Super League, the ISL Cup, and the Durand Cup, as per the press release.
Capable of operating in both attacking and central midfield roles, Noguera is known for his creativity, composure, and ability to control the tempo of the game. His vision, passing range, and intelligence in possession are expected to strengthen Chennaiyin’s midfield and provide a vital link between defence and attack.
Reacting to the move, Noguera said, “I’m really happy and excited as I look ahead to the new season after everything that has happened. I’ve already worked with the head coach and know many of the players, which gives me a lot of confidence heading into this new chapter. I’m looking forward to the challenge and hopeful for a strong season ahead. It won’t be easy, but despite all the issues the ISL has gone through, I’m confident that we’ll give our best and work hard to deliver good performances.”
Born in Madrid, Noguera came through the youth systems of Getafe and . Reyes before earning a move to Atlético Madrid. He progressed through the club’s reserve ranks and made his first-team debut during the 2010–11 season. He later featured in England and Azerbaijan, before returning to Spain in 2014, where he played extensively across the second and third divisions.
Noguera arrived in the Indian Super League in 2020 and has since made more than 90 appearances across five seasons for three clubs, scoring 14 goals and providing 15 assists.
