New Delhi, Jan 14 (.) Congress General Secretary Jairam Ramesh Wednesday expressed concerns over China’s record trade surplus of $1.2 trillion in 2025 over India, alleging that the latter’s trade deficit with China is a significant contributor to the overall trade deficit.
“China has just announced that it had a record trade surplus of $1.2 trillion in 2025. This means that its trade surplus with India alone was about 10% of the total,” Ramesh said in a post on handle X.
Ramesh criticised the government’s handling of trade relations with China, stating that the country’s capitulation to China is evident in its actions. “It should not be surprising though, given our carefully calibrated capitulation to China – an example of which was just seen with the way the BJP and RSS leaders were hobnobbing with a high-level Chinese Communist Party delegation the day before,” he added.
India’s trade deficit with China has been a concern for policymakers, with many urging the government to take steps to reduce dependence on Chinese imports. . SKA .
