New Delhi, Feb 18 (.) The Crime Branch of the Delhi Police busted a gang which was supplying large quantities of heroin across Delhi-NCR and recovered 1.504 kilograms of contraband worth approximately Rs 7.5 crore in an overnight operation near the Bhopura border.
Three accused, including a husband-wife duo and a key receiver, have been arrested in the case.
Acting on specific intelligence inputs, the Anti-Narcotics Task Force (ANTF) of the Crime Branch laid a trap after developing information that a consignment was being transported from Bareilly towards Delhi in a WagonR car under the guise of a family travelling at night.
The vehicle was intercepted and searched, leading to the recovery of over 1.3 kilograms of heroin from the occupants. Subsequent raids led to the arrest of another accused from Bhalswa Dairy and the recovery of additional contraband from his residence.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (ANTF) Sanjeev Kumar Yadav said that the operation dealt a significant blow to an interstate drug trafficking network operating between Uttar Pradesh and Delhi. He stated that the accused used family cover and late-night travel to avoid suspicion and supplied heroin to multiple locations in Delhi-NCR. He further added that sustained interrogation and technical surveillance helped identify the receiver and dismantle a key link in the supply chain.
The senior Police official said further investigation is underway to trace the main suppliers and other associates involved in the racket.
