Jakarta, Jan 23(.) It was a bad day for India at the Daihatsu Indonesia Masters 2026 tournament on Friday as two time Olympic medalist PV Sindhu, and Lakshya Sen both exited the competition. Sindhu lost to top seed Chinese player Chen Yu Fei in straight games with a score line of 13-21, 17-21 in her Women’s singles quarter final match.
What made the match even more forgettable for Sindhu was a red card she was given during the second Game after she lost her temper following a series of tough calls. The card was eventually overturned after a consultation between the referee and the Umpire but Sindhu lost the Game 17-21.
World number 12 Lakshya Sen’s campaign too came to an end as he lost his quarter final match against lower ranked Thai player Panitchapon Teeraratsakul.
21 year old Panitchapon, ranked 44 in the world overwhelmed Lakshya with his speed and relentless smashes winning the match in straight games 18-20, 20-22.
Sindhu and Lakshya were the only two Indian players still in contention at the Daihatsu Indonesia Masters 2026, a BWF Super 500 badminton tournament.
