New Delhi, Jan 21 (.) Delhi Assembly Speaker Vijender Gupta on Wednesday held meetings with the Governor and the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, with the discussions centred on reforms being implemented in the Delhi legislative assembly to modernise its functioning, including going paperless, and enhance public trust.
He also underlined the importance of constitutional values, legislative cooperation and stronger coordination between institutions across states.
The Speaker informed the Uttar Pradesh leadership that the Delhi Assembly has fully transitioned to the National e-Vidhan Application (NeVA), with the recent winter session marking the second session to be conducted entirely on the digital platform. The shift is aimed at ensuring faster proceedings, improved transparency and a paperless legislative process.
Speaker also drew attention to the Assembly’s sustainability initiatives, noting that it has become the first legislative assembly in the country to function entirely on solar power. The move significantly reduces energy costs and carbon emissions, setting an example for environmentally conscious governance within constitutional bodies.
During the meetings, the Speaker shared details of the commemorative coffee table book ”Shatabdi Yatra Veer Vithalbhai Patel”, which traces the evolution of India’s parliamentary democracy through rare archival material.
Copies of the publication were presented to the Governor and the Chief Minister.
The interactions also covered a long-term vision to develop the Delhi Legislative Assembly complex as a cultural and heritage site of national importance, highlighting its historical role in India’s constitutional journey and its continued relevance as a living institution of representative democracy.
