New Delhi, Jan 12 (.) Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Monday distributed scholarships worth Rs 25.25 crore to 1,709 meritorious students under the Delhi Higher and Technical Education Assistance Scheme. The event was held at Thyagaraj Stadium on the occasion of Swami Vivekananda’s birth anniversary.
Speaking at the event, Rekha Gupta said that providing scholarships is an investment in the students’ future and a significant step towards strengthening the youth.
She added that under the academic years 2023-24 and 2024-25, the scholarship amount has been directly transferred to the bank accounts of 1,709 students.
The Chief Minister also announced the release of a pending Rs 19 crore scholarship from the previous government, emphasizing that no amount earmarked for students’ education will remain pending in the future.
“Students should study the thoughts and philosophy of Swami Vivekananda and continue progressing in their careers while striving to realise their dreams. Only when the youth move forward will the nation progress.” Gupta said.
Education Minister Ashish Sood said there will be no politics over education in Delhi and stressed the government’s focus is on solving problems rather than hiding them.
The Delhi Higher and Technical Education Assistance Scheme provides financial support to students from economically weaker sections who have scored at least 75% in Class XII from Delhi schools. Scholarships are transferred directly to students’ bank accounts through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) to ensure transparency and accountability.
