New Delhi, Feb 17 (.) The Commissioner of Delhi Police Satish Golchha on Tuesday affirmed the force’s commitment to ensuring the safety and security of the national capital, calling it a responsibility of ‘National Importance”.
Golchha, speaking at a fuction marking the Delhi Police raising day, expressed gratitude for the guidance and continuous support extended by the Ministry of Home Affairs, stating that such backing strengthens the force in effectively discharging its duties.
Highlighting achievements under the vision of a “Drug-Free India,” he revealed that in 2025 alone, 6,144 kg of narcotic drugs were seized.
In a strong push against drug trafficking networks, 44 properties linked to the narcotics trade were attached during the year, and for the first time, 29 such properties were demolished after due legal process to dismantle the economic backbone of these syndicates.
To strengthen action against organised crime, a dedicated MCOCA Cell has been set up within the Crime Branch.
The Special Cell is also coordinating with central agencies to track 32 fugitives hiding abroad, with two criminals successfully deported to India this year.
In a significant step against cybercrime, Delhi Police became the first in the country to introduce automatic registration of financial cybercrime cases above Rs 10 lakh in May 2025, later lowering the threshold to Rs 1 lakh in November.
Under Operation CyHawk, 18,000 suspects were apprehended in three phases, leading to 3,000 arrests and 1,000 new FIRs.
Golchha noted that 83 personnel were injured in the line of duty over the past year, while overall crime saw a marked decline across major categories in 2025 compared to 2024.
