New Delhi, Jan 21 (.) In a U-turn, US President Donald Trump said on Wednesday that he had settled eight wars, not for a Nobel Prize but for saving lives.
He also justified creating the Board of Peace and attacked the UN for not doing much that necessitated the creation of the Board (of Peace).
‘’You have to understand that I settled eight wars … And I didn’t do it for a Nobel Peace Prize but because I’m saving lives,” he said at a press briefing at the White House.
Referring to Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s praise, the US President said, “The Prime Minister of Pakistan was here, and he said President Trump saved 10 million people and may be much more than that.”
President Trump had said earlier that he had settled eight wars and saved millions of lives, and therefore, he should be given a Nobel Peace Prize. The White House had also officially demanded the Nobel Peace Prize for Trump.
Asked how far was he was willing to go to acquire Greenland, Trump said in a crisp reply ‘’You’ll find out.” ‘’It’s in a location that is very important for our national security, and also for the security of the world, literally… As an example, we’re building the Golden Dome… if somebody wants to shoot missiles, it’ll knock them out of the air like matchsticks,” he said.
To a question on the ‘Board of Peace’, he said ‘’had the United Nations done more, there would have been no need for a Board of Peace. “We just created the Board of Peace, which I think is going to be amazing … I wish the United Nations could do more, I wish we didn’t need a Board of Peace. You know, with all the wars I settled, the United Nations never helped me on one war.”
He said the UN just hadn’t been very helpful. ‘’I’m a big fan of the U.N. potential, but it has never lived up to its potential … I believe you have to let the UN continue because the potential is so great.”
To a question on NATO, he said he had done more for NATO than anyone, but NATO, too, has to treat the US fairly.
To a question on France and England, two important members of NATO, Trump said they have two problems– immigration and energy. ‘’They could straighten out their countries, and it would be good, but I get along very well with them.”
