New Delhi, Jan 27(.) European Council President Antonio Costa on Tuesday thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the warm welcome and said he is looking forward to a productive Summit aimed at strengthening ties between the European union and India, as both sides signed the crucial Free Trade Agreement (FTA).
In a post on X, Costa said the partnership between the EU and India is rooted in shared values and growing ambition.
He added that the Summit will focus on delivering tangible benefits for citizens, boosting shared prosperity and security, and working together on global issues to help shape a resilient multipolar world order.
Costa also underlined the importance of leadership from both sides to address global challenges and deepen cooperation across key sectors.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday announced the signing of the India-European union Free Trade Agreement (FTA), describing it as a landmark deal that accounts for 25 per cent of global GDP and one-third of global trade.
The announcement was made during his virtual address at the India Energy Week 2026 conclave.
