Los Angeles, Feb 18 (.) Sony Pictures Television has released the first official stills from S.W.A.T. Exiles, the upcoming 10-episode spinoff of S.W.A.T., starring and executive produced by Shemar Moore.
The images were shared with Variety ahead of Sony Pictures’ 2026 Showcase at next week’s London TV Screenings, Europe’s biggest TV market in the first half of 2026.
While behind-the-scenes photos and cast images had been released earlier, these are the first official stills from the new series. The show is expected to be one of the major highlights at the London TV Screenings.
Sony Pictures Television made headlines last May when it announced the spinoff at the L.A. Screenings without securing a US domestic deal, just two months after CBS revealed it was canceling ‘S.W.A.T.’ after eight seasons.
As reported by Variety, Sony Pictures TV chairman Keith Le Goy and Sony Pictures TV Studios president Katherine Pope previously discussed the strategic decision to move forward with the project.
Production wrapped on February 10, and Sony has yet to confirm a US network or streaming partner. The London Screenings will likely mark the first opportunity for many international buyers to preview footage from the series.
The first look stills feature Moore reprising his role as Daniel “Hondo” Harrelson, alongside new series regulars including Lucy Barrett (Deep Water, Charmed), Adain Bradley (Warfare, Tarot), Zyra Gorecki (La Brea), Freddy Miyares (When They See Us), and Ronen Rubinstein (9-1-1: Lone Star).
The official logline states that after a high-profile mission goes wrong, Hondo is pulled out of forced retirement to lead an experimental ‘S.W.A.T.’ unit made up of untested and unpredictable young recruits.
He must bridge generational divides, manage clashing personalities, and transform a squad of outsiders into a capable team, all while protecting the city and preserving the program that shaped his life.
Jason Ning (Lucifer) serves as showrunner and executive producer. Additional executive producers include Neal H. Moritz and Pavun Shetty of Original Film, along with Moore, James Scura, and Jon Cowan.
Speaking to Variety, Ning said, “‘Exiles’ honors everything audiences love about the original: big epic action, adrenaline. But it pushes it into more personal territory. This time, it’s not just about what happens on the streets of L.A., it’s about what it costs the people in that stack. Pairing a battle-tested leader like Hondo with a generation that challenges him at every turn creates real friction and real evolution. It feels modern, character-driven, and built for the long haul.”
The newly released stills hint at tense character dynamics, including moments of friction between Hondo and the younger recruits. There are also suggestions of potential romantic tension between Ronen Rubinstein’s Jude Callan and Lucy Barrett’s Sammy Bishop.
Additional casting includes Lenora Crichlow (Bel Air) in a recurring role. Fan favorites Jay Harrington, Patrick St. Esprit, and David Lim will return as guest stars, reprising their roles as Sergeant David ‘Deacon’ Kay, Commander Robert Hicks, and Victor Tan. Selma Blair (Cruel Intentions) and Jerry O’Connell (Billions) have also been announced as guest stars.
Sony Pictures Television stated that S.W.A.T. Exiles “promises to deliver the same high-stakes drama and intense action sequences that fans have come to know and love,” noting that S.W.A.T. has amassed nearly 2 billion hours watched globally and ranked among the top 10 series in 47 countries during its eight-season run.
Beyond ‘S.W.A.T. Exiles’, Sony Pictures Television will present a slate of new dramas, non-scripted formats, and returning franchises at the London TV Screenings.
Highlights include Dear England, a BBC adaptation of James Graham’s Olivier Award-winning play starring Joseph Fiennes as Gareth Southgate; Up to No Good starring Glenn Close; the thriller anthology American Hostage led by Jon Hamm; and popular formats such as Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy!.
The London TV Screenings are expected to serve as a major platform for Sony Pictures Television’s global sales push in 2026.
