Los Angeles, Feb 7 (.) Producer Harman Baweja and director Arati Kadav are teaming up for a new project, marking their second collaboration after last year’s critically acclaimed drama ‘Mrs’, Variety confirms.
The announcement coincides with the one-year anniversary of ‘Mrs.’, the Sanya Malhotra-starrer that drew widespread attention for its exploration of domestic identity and gender dynamics.
According to Variety, the film, produced by Baweja’s Baweja Studios with backing from Jio Studios, reimagined Jeo Baby’s Malayalam-language cult hit The Great Indian Kitchen in a North Indian cultural setting, incorporating traditions such as Karwa Chauth while chronicling the gradual erosion of a woman’s sense of self.
Baweja also co-wrote the project alongside Kadav. Mrs. received critical acclaim at international festivals including Black Nights Tallinn and IFFI Goa, collecting multiple awards.
Commenting on the reunion, Baweja said to Variety, “Mrs. reaffirmed my belief that audiences are ready for audacious cinema that is intimate and transformative. Collaborating with Arati evoked a thrill from being on the same page while also being challenged. I’m excited to have her bring honesty, intelligence, and immense emotional clarity to our fresh collaboration. This next project is born from that very faith, and I look forward to once again pushing boundaries together.”
Kadav added, “I feel very happy, safe, inspired, and delighted to work with Harman Baweja. He and his team, including creative producer Tasneem Lokhandwala, have always helped me do my best. Mrs. was a great collaboration because of the team that Baweja Studios brought together, including Sanya Malhotra. I am very happy to continue collaborating with Harman, it truly feels like home.”
According to Variety, Baweja Studios continues its active slate in 2026 with projects including Dil Ka Darwaza Kholo Na Darling, Captain India, Boy From Andaman, and several other films currently in development.
