New Delhi, Jan 23 (.) Actor Hrithik Roshan has showered praise on Vir Das for his directorial debut ‘Happy Patel’, expressing how impressed he was by the spy comedy.
Taking to his Instagram Stories, Hrithik shared a heartfelt note congratulating Vir on the film.
“Very very entertained by HAPPY PATEL. Congrats VIR. The ingenuity of mixing incredible silliness with a relentless screenplay was so much fun to watch!” wrote the War 2 actor.
Clearly touched by the appreciation, Vir Das reshared Hrithik’s message on his own Instagram handle and thanked him with a playful reference to Hrithik’s presence in Yash Raj Films’ Spy Universe.
“Hrithik – May every comedy lover and first time Filmmaker find a star like you. You are magic on screen and it falls on all of us smaller sillier spies too! Thank you,” Vir wrote.
Titled ‘Happy Patel: Khatarnaak Jasoos’, the film is a quirky, offbeat spy comedy featuring Mona Singh, Sharib Hashmi and Srushti Tawade, with special appearances by Aamir Khan and Imran Khan. Vir Das plays the lead role of an agent sent on a mission in India.
The trailer showcases the film’s humor, including a scene where Vir’s character struggles to assemble a rifle and forgets to add the trigger.
The mission then takes him to Goa, where his unfamiliarity with Indian culture lands him in a series of chaotic situations, from being tortured by Mona Singh’s character to engaging in a slow-motion aerial fight with Imran Khan. Aamir Khan also appears in a cameo role.
The film is produced by Aamir Khan under the banner of Aamir Khan Productions. ‘Happy Patel’ released in theatres on January 16, 2026.
