Hyderabad, Feb 6 (.) The Telangana government has committed ₹20,000 crore for the development of Hyderabad over the last two years, a move aimed at strengthening the city’s position as a major destination for investments, businesses, and global talent, said Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka Mallu here on Friday.
He said the scale and focus of the funding are unprecedented and reflect the government’s strategy to use urban infrastructure as a key economic growth driver.
Addressing the CREDAI Property Exhibition Show here, Bhatti said the capital infusion is already delivering tangible outcomes, with several projects completed and many others progressing rapidly.
He noted that Hyderabad is no longer competing only with other Indian cities but increasingly with leading global cities on parameters such as quality of infrastructure, ease of living, and investment attractiveness.
Of the total allocation, ₹1,950.52 crore has been earmarked within GHMC limits, ₹12,500 crore for strengthening water supply and sewerage infrastructure under the Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board, and ₹4,365 crore through the Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority for planned urban expansion, he said.
He said these investments are reducing travel time, improving logistics efficiency, and pushing up land and asset values, thereby benefiting real estate, commerce, and industry.
The merger of 27 surrounding municipalities into GHMC, he said, was a landmark reform that created a unified urban market with uniform civic services and integrated planning within the Outer Ring Road region.
This, he added, has significantly enhanced investor confidence by providing scale, predictability, and administrative efficiency.
Under the Hyderabad City Innovative and Transformative Infrastructure Programme (H-CITI), projects worth over ₹7,032 crore are being implemented, including flyovers, underpasses, and major road-widening works across all zones of the city.
Strategic infrastructure upgrades around key economic corridors, IT hubs, and emerging residential clusters are supporting business expansion and employment generation, he said.
Bhatti said Hyderabad’s growth is the outcome of decades of institution-building and is now being accelerated through transparent, people-centric governance.
Under the Telangana Rising Vision 2047, the city will continue to function as the state’s core urban economic engine, driving jobs, innovation, and global investments while ensuring inclusive and sustainable development, he said.
He said the government remains committed to policy stability and long-term planning to make Hyderabadi one of India’s most liveable and investment-friendly metropolitan cities.
