Visakhapatnam, Jan 23 (.) In a significant boost to India–EU aviation ties, union Civil Aviation Minister K. Rammohan Naidu met European union Transport Commissioner Apostolos Tzitzikostas at the World Economic Forum in Davos on Friday to discuss strengthening aviation collaboration between India and the EU.
The discussions centred on innovation, environmental sustainability, and modern transport systems, a release from Civil Aviation Minister’s camp office, Srikakulam, said.
A key focus was the promotion of green aviation, including the use of Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF), signalling India’s commitment to reducing the sector’s carbon footprint.
Both sides agreed to deepen cooperation through joint initiatives in safety, cybersecurity, drone regulation, and technology transfer, while aligning India’s domestic aviation programs, such as UDAN, with global best practices.
Strengthened ties with the European union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) are expected to raise safety and operational standards across India’s aviation sector.
Rammohan highlighted that these measures would not only enhance environmental and safety standards but also drive investment, create jobs, and accelerate digital transformation and infrastructure development in airports nationwide.
This partnership marks a strategic step for India in becoming a global leader in sustainable and innovation-driven aviation, reinforcing its commitment to green growth and international collaboration.
