Bengaluru, Jan 8 (.) The Indian singles challenge came to an end at the quarterfinal stage of the 10th Dafa News Bengaluru Open 2026 on Thursday as Dhakshineswar Suresh and Manas Dhamne went down in their respective matches at the SM Krishna Tennis Stadium, while top-seeded doubles pair Sriram Balaji of India and Neil Oberleitner of Austria advanced to the semifinals.
Eighteen-year-old wildcard Manas Dhamne saw his impressive run halted by France’s Matteo Martineau, who delivered a composed performance to seal a straight-sets victory.
Martineau broke early in the opening set and relied on his consistency from the baseline and sharp net play to keep Dhamne at bay. The Indian youngster fought back strongly in the second set and forced a tie-break, but Martineau’s dominance at the net, where he won all 11 points, proved decisive as he closed out the contest.
In another quarterfinal, Suresh faced a tough test against second seed Harold Mayot of France. Hampered by a right leg issue, the Indian struggled to find rhythm but showed determination by pushing the opening set into a tie-break, which Mayot won.
Suresh was unable to maintain the same intensity in the second set, allowing Mayot, who was also dealing with wrist discomfort, to wrap up the match in straight sets and progress to the semifinals.
Earlier in the day, top seed Pedro Martinez of Spain and sixth seed Timofey Skatov of Kazakhstan registered comfortable straight-set wins to book their places in the last four.
In the doubles quarterfinals, top seeds Balaji and Oberleitner gave the home crowd something to cheer about, rallying to defeat Petr Bar Biryukov and Grigoriy Lomakin in a match tie-break to move into the semifinals.
Third seeds Arthur Reymond and Luca Sanchez accounted for Adil Kalyanpur and Saketh Myneni, while fourth seeds Nicolas Barrientos and Benjamin Kittay knocked out SD Prajwal Dev and Nitin Kumar Sinha, ending the Indian challenge in the doubles draw.
Later in the evening, Pruchya Isaro and Niki Kaliyanda Poonacha were scheduled to take on the Dutch pair of Max Houkes and Niels Visker in the remaining quarterfinal.
Semifinal action is set to begin at 2 PM on Friday, with players eyeing spots in the doubles final scheduled for 4 PM and the singles final slated for 6 PM on Saturday.
