Tehran, Feb 6 (.) The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), an elite branch of Iran’s armed forces, has deployed its latest long-range ballistic missile, the Khorramshahr-4, at one of its bases, Iranian state broadcaster Press TV reported on Thursday.
The Khorramshahr-4 was among the operational assets unveiled during the opening of the site, which is operated by the IRGC Aerospace Force. The deployment signals the missile’s incorporation into Iran’s defense doctrine.
According to Press TV, the Khorramshahr-4 has a range of 2,000 kilometers (1,200 miles) and is capable of carrying a 1,500-kilogram (3,300-pound) warhead.
Brig. Gen. Yadollah Javani, the IRGC’s deputy commander for political affairs, said the missile’s demonstration was intended to convey to the United States that Iran has no intention of relinquishing its defense capabilities. Speaking to Al Mayadeen on Thursday, Javani emphasized that Iran “will not retreat from its positions and does not seek war,” while warning that any “mistake by the enemy will be met with a strong response.”
Javani also stated that Iranian diplomats will enter upcoming talks with the United States in Oman “with full confidence,” citing Iran’s military strength as a key factor.
U.S. Special Presidential Envoy Steve Witkoff and Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi are in Muscat to hold nuclear talks in Oman on Friday.
