Los Angeles, Jan 25 (.) Jason Momoa is set to take on a brand-new DC role, stepping into the boots of Lobo, the motorcycle-riding bounty hunter, in ‘Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow’.
The film will introduce fans to Momoa’s take on the iconic anti-hero.
DC Studios co-head James Gunn recently shared a first glimpse of Momoa as Lobo in a video posted on Instagram. In the clip, the actor is seen stepping out of his film trailer while showing off Lobo’s trademark fangs.
“Finally,” Momoa says before heading off to shoot. The video then cuts to his official unveiling as the character in the upcoming superhero film.
‘Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow’, starring Milly Alcock as Kara Zor-El, marks the second film in James Gunn and Peter Safran’s rebooted DC Universe, following 2025’s Superman. The first film starred David Corenswet as the Man of Steel and Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane.
Momoa’s casting as Lobo was announced in December 2024. At the time, the Aquaman star revealed his long-standing admiration for the character.
Speaking to Variety, he said, “I collect comics, and I don’t do so much anymore, but he was always my favourite, and I always wanted to play Lobo, because I’m like, ‘Hello? It’s the perfect role’. I mean, listen. If they call and ask me to play him, it’s a yeah. I haven’t received that call, so I don’t want to put any fake news out there, but if they ever call me and ask me to play, or ask me to audition, I’m there.”
Gunn also hinted at Momoa’s performance in a post on X, reflecting on an early exchange with the actor.
“On the anniversary of Lobo, I can’t help but think of a text I received from Jason Momoa on the morning it was announced Peter & I were the heads of DC Studios — the day Jason & I first discussed him joining the DCU as Lobo. I’ve loved watching Jason bring him to life & can’t wait to share that with all of you,” Gunn wrote.
‘Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow’ is scheduled to release in theatres on June 26, 2026.
