Vadodara, Jan 28 (.) Delhi Capitals captain Jemimah Rodrigues has been fined Rs 12 lakh for maintaining a slow over-rate during the match against Gujarat Giants (GG).
The Delhi Capitals women’s team suffered a three-run defeat against GG in the match played on Tuesday night at the BCA Stadium in Vadodara. As a result, Rodrigues was penalised for the slow over-rate. This was Jemimah’s first offence related to slow over-rate, for which she was fined Rs 12 lakh.
After registering two consecutive wins last week, Rodrigues’ team slipped slightly in the playoff race following the narrow three-run loss to the Giants.
This came after the Delhi Capitals conceded 174/9, including 15 runs in the 20th over. While chasing the target, they had a poor start, but a seventh-wicket partnership revived hopes and took the match till the final over.
Sophie Devine conceded 23 runs in the 17th over, but made a strong comeback in the 20th over, successfully defending nine runs in the final over to seal the win for her team.
