New Delhi, January 19 (.) The Delhi High Court on Monday rejected the bail plea of Kuldeep Singh Sengar in the custodial death case of the father of the Unnao gang-rape victim.
The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) said on Monday that Kuldeep Singh Sengar and other accused were convicted in the case by a lower court on March 4, 2020. The court had sentenced Sengar to 10 years in prison, a fine and to pay Rs 10 lakh as compensation to the legal heirs of the deceased.
Kuldeep Singh Sengar had filed an appeal against the lower court’s decision. The plea said that the sentence should be suspended till the time his appeal against the decision is pending. The CBI strongly opposed the bail plea of the appellant. The High Court has rejected the plea for suspension of sentence filed by Kuldeep Singh Sengar.
It is worth mentioning that in the case of the rape of a minor girl, the Supreme Court had quashed the High Court’s order granting bail to the accused.
