New Delhi, Jan 8 (.) A delegation of residents from Delhi’s rural belt on Thursday met Delhi BJP chief Virendra Sachdeva and MCD Mayor Sardar Raja Iqbal Singh at the party’s state unit office and submitted a memorandum seeking house tax waiver in Lal Dora areas of the national capital’s villages.
Sachdeva urged the Mayor to take a positive decision on the matter at the earliest and emphasised that a clear relief policy be formulated at the municipal level to provide relief to the rural residents, so that long-standing confusion and dissatisfaction can be put to rest.
The delegation was led by Sakal Panchayat Palam 360 chief Chaudhary Surender Solanki, and they submitted a memorandum and informed Sachdeva that citizens residing in Lal Dora areas of Delhi’s rural regions are traditionally connected to a rural way of life, and imposing house tax on them is not only impractical but also an unjust financial burden.
They demanded that Lal Dora areas be completely exempted from house tax and that a permanent exemption be granted with immediate effect.
Assuring the delegation, the Delhi BJP chief said that the BJP has always stood in support of the interests of Delhi’s rural population and Lal Dora areas, adding that the rural belt of the national capital and its Lal Dora areas are an integral part of Delhi’s original identity and that residents living there will not be harassed in any manner.
The Mayor also listened to the delegation and their concerns carefully and assured that appropriate action would be taken at the municipal level regarding the issue, and the interests of the people would be given top priority.
Meanwhile, Solanki has said that the BJP had promised to address the issues of rural and now the people have hope that they will certainly fulfill the promises.
He said that the meeting with the Delhi BJP chief and the Mayor was positive, adding that soon the notices that had been issued to the village people shall be withdrawn.
Solanki said that during the previous regime, promises were made by the then-leaders regarding relief for the villagers in this connection, but nothing was done during that time.
