New Delhi, Dec 31 (.) Superstar Mohanlal’s mother, Santhakumari Amma, passed away on Tuesday in Kochi, leaving the Malayalam film industry and fans in mourning.
Following the news, several fans gathered at the actor’s Kochi residence to pay their last respects and offer condolences to the grieving family.
Close friends and colleagues from the film fraternity also visited the residence. Superstar Mammootty was seen leaving Mohanlal’s home after paying his respects to Santhakumari Amma.
Condolences poured in from political leaders as well. Kerala Legislative Assembly Speaker A. N. Shamseer expressed his grief over the demise, paying tribute to Santhakumari’s role in shaping Mohanlal’s life and career.
Taking to Instagram, Shamseer wrote, “The mother of Malayalam’s favourite star Mohanlal Shanthakumari expresses grief over the demise of Amma. The role that the mother played is huge in shaping the talent named Mohanlal and in standing as a support and shadow for him. Joining the grief of the beloved star and his family. Rest in peace.”
Actor Kamal Haasan also extended his condolences to Mohanlal and his family.
Sharing an emotional message on X, Haasan wrote, “Brother MohanLal only you can console yourself. Friends will stand by you as always. No amount of comforting can compensate for a loss like this. Take care we all love you. Kamal Haasan.”
The funeral of Santhakumari Amma will be held in Thiruvananthapuram on December 31.
