Vadodara, Jan 26 (.) Nat Sciver-Brunt etched her name in Women’s Premier League history by becoming the first batswoman to score a century in the tournament, producing a landmark unbeaten 100 for Mumbai Indians Women against Royal Challengers Bengaluru Women here on Monday.
The England allrounder reached the three-figure mark in the final over of the innings, clipping a floated delivery from Shreyanka Patil over the infield for a single. She removed her helmet, raised her arms and acknowledged the applause from teammates and the spectators, with Amanjot Kaur running across to congratulate her on a historic achievement.
Sciver-Brunt’s knock further underlined her status as one of the league’s most consistent performers. With this innings, she became the batswoman involved in the most century partnerships in WPL history, featuring in five such stands, more than any other player in the competition.
Her unbeaten 100 is now the highest individual score in the WPL. Previously, several batters had fallen agonisingly short of the milestone, including Georgia Voll (99*), Sophie Devine (99), Alyssa Healy (96*), Beth Mooney (96*) and Smriti Mandhana (96).
Mumbai Indians Women have also built a formidable reputation for big partnerships in the league, with Sciver-Brunt playing a central role in all of their 100-plus stands.
MI-W’s century partnerships in the WPL include a 133-run stand between Sciver-Brunt and Hayley Matthews against UP Warriorz in Bengaluru in 2025, followed by another 133-run partnership by the same pair against Gujarat Giants at Brabourne in 2025.
The duo also added 131 runs against RCB-W in Vadodara in 2026, while Sciver-Brunt and Matthews had earlier put together an unbeaten 114-run stand against RCB-W at Brabourne in 2023.
Another notable century partnership came in 2023, when Sciver-Brunt shared an unbeaten 106-run stand with Harmanpreet Kaur against UP Warriorz at Brabourne.
Sciver-Brunt’s historic innings is expected to be remembered as a defining moment for the WPL, finally ending the long wait for a century and setting a new benchmark for batting excellence in the league.
