New Delhi, Feb 6 (.) New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) on Friday said it has intensified multi-departmental preparations for the India AI Impact Summit 2026, scheduled from February 15 to 20, with extensive works underway across key corridors to ensure cleanliness, safety and city beautification.
NDMC Vice Chairperson Kuljeet Singh Chahal briefed the media after inspecting Sardar Patel Marg and Chanakyapuri along with concerned officers and officials. He said NDMC is implementing a comprehensive action plan to present a clean, green and world-class capital city for the summit.
As part of horticulture and beautification measures, over 5,000 decorative potted plants have been installed at major locations including Connaught Place, Sardar Patel Marg, Emporium BKS Marg, C-Hexagon, Khan Market, Aurobindo Marg, Dilli Haat, PM House Roundabout, Teen Murti Marg, Barakhamba Road, Leela Palace area and Sansad Marg.
Around 15 floral boards and floral fountains are being prepared at prominent roundabouts, while a Tulip Festival will be organised at Shanti Path lawns during the summit period. Hedge trimming, tree pruning and green belt cleaning are also in progress.
Chahal said advanced road safety devices have been installed on 41 major roads, including flexible urban delineators, solar raised pavement markers, anti-glare boards, linear delineation systems and speed arrester studs.
Road safety works have been completed on Ashoka Road and Parliament Street, while work on Mother Teresa Crescent is underway and scheduled for completion by February 12. Signage boards are being repaired, thermoplastic road markings renewed, footpaths upgraded and potholes filled, with kerb stones being repainted in black and yellow.
Under the illumination and branding drive, NDMC is installing around 300 decorative tree lights from Sardar Patel Marg to Central Park and branding 400 road light pillars across 41 roads with AI-themed visuals. Ten iconic buildings and locations, including Palika Kendra, NDCC Phase-II, Chanderlok Building, Connaught Place Inner Circle, Central Park Periphery, Palika Bazar (outside), Charak Museum, AAV Mandir Marg, Lok Nayak Bhawan and Chanakya Bhawan—are being specially illuminated.
From a sanitation perspective, NDMC has identified 41 critical roads, including VIP routes, Central Vista, Connaught Place and Bharat Mandapam approaches. Road-wise mapping has been completed, with nodal officers deployed for 24×7 monitoring. About 25–30 porta cabins have been set up for Safai Karamcharis, supported by night-shift supervisory staff.
A 24×7 Control Room at the Integrated Command and Control Centre (ICCC) is operational for coordination, complaint redressal and inter-departmental monitoring.
Under solid waste management measures, NDMC has intensified mechanised and manual sweeping, introduced multi-trip daily garbage lifting, activated 24×7 transfer stations at Tolstoy Marg and BHS Marg, and implemented a zero-accumulation policy.
Nearly 180-200 Safai Karamcharis will be deployed nightly along with mechanical road sweepers, while residential lanes and markets will undergo wet mopping and pressure-jet cleaning.
Chahal said daily field inspection reports, surprise checks and continuous supervision by senior officers will ensure compliance, adding that NDMC is also displaying official creatives from the Ministry across LED screens, display boards and digital assets citywide.
He said officers and field staff are working round the clock to ensure smooth arrangements for the India AI Impact Summit 2026.
