New Delhi, January 14 (.) A Sufi delegation led by Ajmer Sharif Dargah’s head met National Security Advisor Ajit Doval on Wednesday seeking a dialogue on disputes related to mosques, dargahs and graveyards, said officials of the All India Sufi Sajjada Nashin Council.
The delegation including Chairman of the All India Sufi Sajjada Nashin Council and Sajjada Nashin of Dargah Ajmer Sharif Hazrat Syed Naseeruddin Chishti and Vice President of the All India Sufi Sajjada Nashin Council Arshad Faridi, emphasised at the meeting in case of any dispute related to mosques, dargahs and graveyards, all concerned parties should be taken into confidence and the path of dialogue and reconciliation initiated.
The meeting comes in the backdrop of the recent demolitions near the historic Faiz-e-ilahi mosque in Turkman Gate area of Old Delhi.
Pointing out that decisions given by law courts were acceptable to all, the Council requested the government brings a clear mechanism so that concerned parties come to the table to resolve disputes amicably.
The delegation said the Council is ready to play the role of a bridge between the government and others in such matters, so that a message of peace and brotherhood can be conveyed.
The delegation also highlighted that India is viewed with respect and dignity at the global level, especially in Islamic countries, which is proof that all religions and communities enjoy equal rights here.
According to Council officials NSA Doval listened attentively to the delegation and appreciated their concerns for the country. He assured the delegation that the suggestions presented will be conveyed to the relevant authorities. . MA JRC
