Hyderabad, Feb 21 (.) The PM Sansad Khel 2026 Sports Festival concluded successfully in the Secunderabad Parliamentary Constituency, witnessing enthusiastic participation from more than 30,000 sportspersons from diverse sections of society.
Union Minister for Coal and Mines G Kishan Reddy attended the concluding events at the Gymkhana here on Saturday evening, watched cricket, kho-kho and kabaddi matches, and presented prizes to winners.
The main prize distribution ceremony will be held shortly in the presence of political leaders and eminent sportspersons.
Speaking on the occasion, Kishan Reddy said Prime Minister Narendra Modi has directed that sports competitions be organised in every parliamentary constituency, irrespective of political differences, and personally reviews their conduct and participation.
He said the initiative is aimed at encouraging youth from both rural and urban areas to actively take part in sports.
The union minister said the festival saw participation from women, journalists and persons with disabilities, including visually impaired players who participated in cricket based on sound.
He expressed happiness over the inclusive nature of the event and thanked sportspersons, organisers, media and volunteers for making it a success.
He said efforts would be made to expand the programme next year with a target of one lakh participants.
Former union minister Vidyasagar Rao and BJP Telangana State President N Ramchandra Rao also addressed the gathering, highlighting the growing importance given to sports under the leadership of Prime Minister Modi and the role of such programmes in fostering discipline, unity and sportsmanship among the youth.
