New Delhi, Feb 16 (.) The Privileges Committee of the Delhi Legislative Assembly has decided to grant a final opportunity to former Chief Minister and National Convenor of the Aam Aadmi Party Arvind Kejriwal, former Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia, former Speaker Ram Niwas Goel and former Deputy Speaker Rakhi Birla to appear in person and record their statements in connection with the ‘Faansi Ghar’ issue.
The Committee has scheduled the final appearance for March 6, 2026, following a meeting held on Monday to deliberate on the matter.
The decision came after the four leaders submitted written replies seeking a few days’ extension to present their statements before the panel.
Chairperson of the Committee, Pradyumn Singh Rajput, informed that Kejriwal, in his written response, had sought time to appear on either March 2, 3, 4, 5 or 6.
Similar requests for extension were submitted by Sisodia, Goel and Birla, aligning with the timeline suggested by Kejriwal.
Taking note of these submissions, the Committee formalised March 6 as the final date to ensure that the inquiry proceeds without further delay.
The matter was originally raised by Speaker Vijender Gupta and pertains to the authenticity of the ‘Faansi Ghar’ inaugurated on August 9, 2022, within the premises of the Delhi Legislative Assembly.
The Committee of Privileges was directed to examine the issue to enable a factual and procedural assessment of the circumstances surrounding the inauguration. . PKJ KK
