Los Angeles, Jan 13 (.) Mark Ruffalo, attending the Golden Globe Awards as a nominee for his performance in HBO’s Task, took a visibly political stand on the red carpet, speaking out against US President Donald Trump and the recent fatal shooting of Renee Nicole Good by an ICE agent.
Variety reported that Ruffalo and several other celebrities, including Wanda Sykes, Jean Smart, and Natasha Lyonne, wore “Be Good” and “ICE Out” pins to honour Good, a 37‑year‑old woman killed during a federal immigration enforcement action in Minneapolis last week.
The gesture was part of a broader protest against immigration enforcement policies.
Speaking to USA Today, Ruffalo said the pin was “for Renee Nicole Good, who was murdered,” and expressed deep concern about the current political climate in the United States.
He criticised Trump’s approach to international issues, saying the president had shown disregard for international law and was driven by “his own morality.”
Ruffalo went on to label Trump as “the worst human being,” adding that if the world must rely on his moral compass, the nation would be in serious trouble.
Ruffalo said he wanted to celebrate his nomination, but felt he could not remain silent given the circumstances, describing current events as “not normal anymore.”
His remarks turned the traditionally glamour‑focused awards ceremony into a flashpoint for political discourse and protest, according to Variety.
