New Delhi, Feb 5 (.) India’s Samrat Rana and Suruchi Singh clinched the silver medal in the 10m air pistol mixed team event at the Asian Shooting Championship 2026 in New Delhi on Thursday.
Competing at the Dr Karni Singh Shooting Range, the Indian pair posted a final score of 479.6, finishing just behind Uzbekistan’s Nigina Saidkulova and Mukhammad Kamalov, who secured the gold with 481.3 points. Samrat and Suruchi had taken the early lead after the first two series, but a strong late surge from the Uzbek duo proved decisive.
Chinese Taipei’s Cheng Yen-Ching and Hsieh Hsiang-Chen claimed the bronze medal with 412.2 points in a final conducted under the revised four-team format.
Under the new system, the top four teams from qualification compete together in the final, with the fourth-placed team eliminated after the fourth series, replacing the earlier head-to-head gold and bronze medal matches. Vietnam finished fourth in the event.
Earlier in the day, Samrat Rana and Suruchi Singh had topped the qualification round with 583 points, comfortably booking their place in the title round. India’s second mixed team, featuring Olympic medallist Manu Bhaker and Sharvan Kumar, finished ninth with 571 points.
The silver adds to a strong championship for both shooters. Samrat Rana, the reigning men’s 10m air pistol world champion, had already won bronze in the individual event on Wednesday and was part of the Indian men’s team that secured silver.
Suruchi Singh, meanwhile, narrowly missed an individual medal after finishing fourth in the women’s 10m air pistol, behind compatriot Esha Singh, who won gold. Suruchi, Esha, and Manu Bhaker also combined to win gold in the women’s team event on the opening day.
With Thursday’s result, India’s senior medal tally rose to five, two gold, two silver, and one bronze, at the continental meet.
Organised by the Asian Shooting Confederation, the Asian Shooting Championship 2026 features rifle and pistol events and will run until February 13. The tournament has drawn 311 shooters from 20 countries to the Indian capital.
