Los Angeles, Jan 31 (.) Canadian actress Catherine O’Hara, best known for her roles in ‘Schitt’s Creek’, ‘Home Alone’, and ‘Beetlejuice’, has died at the age of 71.
She passed away on January 30, 2026, at her home in Los Angeles following a brief illness, her representatives confirmed.
O’Hara’s career spanned over five decades. She was widely known for her work across film, television, and sketch comedy. She first rose to prominence in the late 1970s as a member of Toronto’s Second City troupe and later became a familiar face through Second City Television (SCTV), where her performances earned critical recognition.
In cinema, she appeared in several popular films, including ‘Home Alone’ and ‘Home Alone 2: Lost in New York’, where she played the role of Kevin McCallister’s mother, and ‘Beetlejuice’, directed by Tim Burton.
