Mumbai, Jan 19 (.) The sequel to last year’s blockbuster “Dhurandhar” has officially been titled “Dhurandhar: The Revenge”, whose teaser got clearance on Monday from the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) with an ‘A’ certificate, hinting at a grittier and more hard-hitting sequel.
Bollywood Hungama carried a statement of a source who said, “Both Dhurandhar 2 and Border 2 are nationalistic films, and the team at Jio Studios wants to capitalise on the wave of patriotic cinema. The new cut of teaser from the end-credits of part one will be out digitally too, after a premiere on the big screen. For the beginners, it is a big-screen exclusive.”
“Dhurandhar” also starred Akshaye Khanna, R Madhavan, Sanjay Dutt, Arjun Rampal and Sara Arjun. It is directed by Aditya Dhar, produced by Aditya Dhar and Lokesh Dhar’s B62 Studios and Jyoti Deshpande’s Jio Studios. The first part told the story of an Indian spy who infiltrates a dreaded gang in Karachi, Pakistan and creates havoc. The sequel is expected to take this tale forward.
While “Dhurandhar” opened to a measured response, it steadily gathered momentum through strong word of mouth, eventually emerging as a record-breaking success. With collections touching ₹879.75 crore as of January 18, “Dhurandhar” now stands as the highest-grossing Hindi film to date — a benchmark that places extraordinary expectations on its successor.
Incidentally, “Dhurandhar The Revenge” releases exactly two months from now, on March 19.
