New Delhi, Feb 14 (.) Shahid Kapoor and Rashmika Mandanna are set to collaborate on another film even before their first project together, “Cocktail 2,” hits theatres. Now, Variety India has shared additional details about the untitled romantic comedy, which promise to further build anticipation, Variety India reported.
According to sources, Shahid and Rashmika will portray a married couple whose relationship has hit a low point, with divorce looming over them. Their lives, however, take an unexpected turn when a scientific experiment goes awry, resulting in comedic chaos and surprising emotional revelations about their marriage.
The film is described as a light-hearted, feel-good entertainer, featuring witty gags, humorous situations, and an absurd yet engaging premise.
According to Variety India, the film will be directed by Amit Ravindernath Sharma, known for hits like “Badhaai Ho” and Ajay Devgn’s “Maidaan.” Shahid, who recently explored romance with a sci-fi twist in “Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya” (2024), embraces another quirky concept with this project.
The film promises a blend of romance and comedy, with Shahid and Rashmika expected to portray a more personal and emotionally layered dynamic compared to the breezy, modern relationship explored in Homi Adajania’s “Cocktail 2.”
Sunir Kheterpal, who produced Shahid’s “Bloody Daddy,” will produce the film in association with Jio Studios. Production is slated to begin around August-September 2026.
Meanwhile, Shahid’s recent release, Vishal Bhardwaj’s gangster thriller “O’Romeo,” opened to a positive response, collecting Rs 8.25 crore net on its first day. Shahid will next begin work on Raj and DK’s “Farzi” Season 2 before moving on to Amit Sharma’s rom-com, while “Cocktail 2” is expected in theatres later this year, as per Variety India.
Rashmika, on her part, recently wrapped the first schedule of Atlee and Allu Arjun’s ambitious action film and is set to marry longtime boyfriend Vijay Deverakonda later this month. She will also star opposite Vijay in the historical epic “Ranabaali,” releasing on September 11, 2026, and has “Mysa” lined up for later this year.
