    Kannur, Feb 1 (.) Shailesh Kushwala and Babli Verma won the men’s and women’s crown respectively in the 21 km (Half marathon), in the ninth edition of Kannur Beach Run-2026, organized by North Malabar Chamber of Commerce (NMCC) held at Payyambalam beach stretch, on Sunday.
    In the Men’s section, Lovepreet Singh and Subham Sindhu finished second and third respectively, while Anju Murukan and Rekha Sujith secured second and third places respectively in the Women’s section.
    In the 10 Km open Men’s category, Sathish Angappan finished first, while Sarfudheen and Siju C.P secured second and third places.
    In the 10 Km Open women’s Ranjitha finished first, while Nahadha and Jhanvika Krishnan secured second and third places.
    In the Veteran’s 10 Km Men’s, Dangsaru Sufa (Ethiopia) finished first, while C J Naidu and Suneesh M secured second and third places. In the 10Km Women’s, Jaseena Khani finished first, while Sreedevi and T V Thambai secured second and third places.
    In the Health Run 3 Km Men’s — Sridhin S, Muhammed Sahir and Devanandh P finished first, second and third spots, while in Women’s 3Km Simi Saji finished first.
    Members and family 10 Km Men’s — Dhaval Dhruv, Sujith P and Arun C.V finished in first, second and third places respectively, in the Women’s 10 Km– Nisha Vinod, Reesha Haneesh and Sapna Santhosh secured first, second and third places respectively.
    The beach run was flagged off by Olympian Jinson Johnson and hundreds of athletes from all over India and abroad attended the event. The cash prize of Rs 1,30,000 was distributed to the 21 KM half marathon in both sections, while 85,000 and 40,000 was presented to the athletes, who finished at second and third places.
    In the Open 10 KM run, Rs 30,000, 15,000 and 6,000, Veterans 10 KM race Rs 20,000, 10,000 and 4,000 and 3Km race Rs 5,000, 2,500 and 1,000 respectively were awarded to the winners.
    The Kannur beach run was organised with an aim to create a healthy society by promoting the importance of a healthy lifestyle and to encourage tourism destinations of North Malabar.
